This is Hillcrest Star. This month’s block is named after one of the streets I lived on as an undergrad at Michigan State University. My student days in East Lansing are among my fondest memories, and the house I lived in on Hillcrest Ave. for a few years was an absolute blast. I lived there with a bunch of my fellow journalism students and co-workers at the student newspaper, in a ramshackle old house had seen its share of messes and parties. But we all loved it anyway … especially since it was the scene of our own messes and parties! We even tried to spiff it up a little by painting some of the rooms (with stern warnings from the absentee landlord not to paint the windows shut). I wonder if that place has been painted since? LOL. I hope some current students are enjoying it just as much as we did!
This is a fun block that really mixes it up as far as the different HST sizes within the block. It makes for a striking design that I think really stands out and makes the complete layout a bit more interesting!
