Good morning! This week’s Summer Sampler 2019 block is all about partial seams!

Partial seams is one of those techniques that sounds super scary and complicated, but it actually isn’t. Like at all! It’s literally sewing a part of a seam, then coming back and finishing that seam later. Faith (the designer of this block) made a video showing you exactly how to do it—see, easy, right? I know you will be pleasantly surprised when you give this block a try!

IMG_2613And, such a cool block, right? Which couldn’t be accomplished any other way except with partial seams. So it’s a great technique to have in your arsenal.

One little footnote about my block. In case you didn’t notice, mine is actually a mirror image of the “real” block. That’s because, in spite of Faith’s excellent directions in the pattern, I managed to cut ALL of my triangles the wrong way! Oops! Rather than waste fabric and re-cut, I used my mad designer skillz to just flip the paper-piecing templates, so that the templates conformed to my triangles. And voila—one mirror-image block. Problem solved. LOL.
